TCP Software 2025 Year in Review

As we say “see ya!” to 2025, we’ve reflected on a busy and pretty exciting year at TCP Software.

We went back to our K-12 roots with a new extra duty management capability in TimeClock Plus. We brought greater flexibility and control to Humanity Schedule. We made Aladtec even more beloved with a fresh new look and simpler workflows.

Above all else, our teams have been working hard to make our customers’ work lives easier. Across our employee scheduling and time and attendance solutions, we’ve shipped some cool new stuff and made some 10/10 enhancements to existing features.

TimeClock Plus: Doubling down on K-12 and higher education

For TimeClock Plus, our time and attendance solution, 2025 was the year for helping our K-12 customers and Higher Education customers do more, more easily across districts and departments.

Extra Duty Manager

Designed for K-12 districts, Extra Duty Manager makes assigning, approving, and tracking extra duty work as easy as 1-2-3. It simplifies the entire process for admins and staff alike, all while keeping compliance, daily workflows, and budgets top of mind.

Sub Manager (the capability formerly known as SubSearch)

Several enhancements give you more control over the finer details of substitute management, helping you lower costs, increase fill rates, and reduce classroom disruptions. New functionality includes:

  • Contract-based assignments
  • Split assignments between multiple subs
  • Improved visibility into grouped assignments
  • Smoother, clearer workflows for subs accepting or declining shifts

Ellucian Banner Cloud

Our new Ellucian Ethos API integration takes the oh-so-boring manual work out of data entry. Now, higher ed institutions can keep their time and attendance data nice, neat, and in sync between TimeClock Plus and Ellucian Banner Cloud.

TimeClock Plus: The meat and potatoes

While our education friends were front and center for TimeClock Plus in 2025, we didn’t forget about everyone else — we promise. We rolled out some pretty neat upgrades to manage your workforce easier, whatever your industry.

The Compliance Center

Compliance doesn’t have to be so tricky. The Compliance Center gives you direct access to HR and legal experts for everything from employee handbooks, wage rules and requirements, regular webinars and trainings — whatever helps you stay up to date with the regulatory landscape.

TimeClock Plus Manager

Available on iOS and Android, the new manager app keeps frontline teams connected without being tied to a desk, with key manager actions like:

  • Seeing who’s clocked in or on break
  • Viewing/approving hours
  • Handling leave requests

No matter where you or your teams are working, the app gives you fast, convenient access to make decisions.

TimeClock Plus + Aladtec

This year, we brought the best of employee time, attendance, and 24/7 rotational scheduling together into a connected solution: TimeClock Plus + Aladtec. This A+ combination helps government agencies reduce the back-and-forth to make day-to-day work better, ensure compliance through cleaner time tracking, and control labor costs with easier payroll processing.

Aladtec: The facelift everyone was asking for

We love Aladtec. Our public safety customers love Aladtec. But prior to this year, nobody’s ever called Aladtec the prettiest software on the block…

2025 ushered in the start of Aladtec’s much-deserved glow up. Our revamped mobile experience debuted a fresh new look customers can expect to see more of in 2026. Plus, with more detailed reporting and added forecasting features, the upgraded Aladtec makes all things 24/7 rotational scheduling simpler (and easier on the eyes).

Additional scheduling controls Block time overrides and automated accrual workflows simplify your workflows and save your time (and just as importantly, your sanity) when creating and updating schedules. 

Humanity Schedule: More functionality, less frustration

Throughout 2025, updates to Humanity Schedule were all about making dynamic employee scheduling easier, faster, and more reliable.  While we added new capabilities, this year was about giving you less to worry about.

Fewer “are we at risk if we do this with our schedule?” moments of doubt. Fewer tasks falling through the cracks. Fewer late-shift surprises. Our focal point was teams being able to focus on the work in front of them instead of worrying about what they missed or overlooked.

Shift tasks

Designed to make managing on-the-job tasks feel less chaotic, shift tasks in Humanity Schedule allow managers to assign tasks, track tasks at the shift level, and report on completion rates. As a result, they can measure and improve employee accountability and performance.

Minor rules

Automatic conflict alerts plus syncs with external academic calendars make youth labor laws easier to navigate and adhere to. With clear scheduling guidelines that proactively flag potential violations, minor employees’ schedules stay accurate, predictable, and compliant with minor rules.

Fair workweek

Fair workweek laws (also known as predictable scheduling laws) mean organizations are required to provide more predictable schedules and better employee access to hours. Built-in guardrails in Humanity Schedule make it easy to stay compliant:

  • Get predictive scheduling alerts that flag potential problems
  • Document changes, communications, and employee consent  
  • Identify schedule changes that may trigger predictability pay

A sneak peek into 2026 with Humanity Schedule

Just like the end of every action-packed Marvel movie, we couldn’t wrap things up without a little bonus content hinting toward what’s next.

Every manager and scheduler knows that last-minute callouts and dropped shifts disrupt service and create chaos. Late-in-the-game schedule changes often mean a fun time drain of “Heeeyyy, please tell me you’re free to come into work this morning?” text messages and phone calls scrambling to replace staff. 

So, in addition to making compliance and task management much less of a headache for all involved, 2025 also kicked off work on a new backfill feature coming soon to Humanity Schedule. Using some pretty cool AI magic (the kind that’s actually useful), backfill helps you resolve coverage gaps in seconds, not hours. 

  • Instantly identify best-fit employees for open shifts using intelligent automation 
  • Match staff based on availability, pay rules, and past workload patterns 
  • Send targeted, phased SMS outreach to maximize response rates  
  • Allow employees to quickly accept or decline shifts  
  • Keep managers informed with real-time status updates until coverage is finalized
