Half the year is done, and just like you, we’ve been busy at TCP Software.
So far in 2026, we’ve shipped a major new feature in Humanity Schedule, went deeper on K-12 and overtime with TimeClock Plus, kept Aladtec’s evolution rolling, and picked up some hardware along the way.
If you’ve been a TCP customer for a while, you know consistent improvement is the name of our game. But none of it is possible without you, so before we get into our highlights, we want to thank you for helping us grow and giving us the feedback we need to do so.
Here’s a look at TCP’s 1H 2026 roundup, with recaps of what we’ve done plus what’s coming ahead in our 2026 timeline.
1H roundup: awards
We closed out the first half of 2026 with many recognitions across both our solutions and our service. Here are a few we’re particularly proud of.

HR Technology Advice – Workforce Management: ROI Kings of HR
TimeClock Plus was named one of five solutions in HR Technology Advice’s 2026 Workforce Management: ROI Kings of HR Technology report, evaluated across functional depth, industry specialization, customer ROI, and AI utilization.
The 2026 American Business Awards – Silver Stevies
TCP was honored with two Silver Stevies in Best Use of Technology in Customer Service and Customer Retention Program of the Year. The Stevies are the world’s top honors in customer service, with 2,100+ nominations evaluated this year.
The two wins here speak to what we emphasize as a company — what happens after the sale matters just as much to us as what happens to get the sale.
Spring 2026 G2 Category Leader
TCP is a proud market leader in G2’s Time & Attendance and Employee Scheduling categories, earned through verified customer satisfaction scores, reviews, and market presence.
Capterra Shortlist
Same story as G2, different platform. Capterra places TimeClock Plus (Employee Time Tracking category) and Humanity Schedule (Employee Scheduling category) as top solutions in the workforce management sector.
1H roundup: product highlights
While each product in the TCP lineup could justify its own set of highlights from 1H, these are the most notable changes you should know about in TimeClock Plus, Humanity Schedule, and Aladtec.
Humanity Schedule: what’s new
Backfill is live and it packs a punch
Before backfill launched, a last-minute callout meant working down a contact list, waiting on replies, and hoping someone picks up before the shift starts uncovered. Our teams built a better answer.
Backfill tactically uses AI to instantly rank best-fit available replacements based on availability, pay, location, compliance rules, and historical shift behavior. Then, backfill handles outreach automatically.
Managers stay in the loop, but the heavy lifting is done for them. Employees get shift offers that match their availability and skills, and can accept or decline directly from the app or via SMS. Here’s how it works:
- Intelligent matching – Fit scores rank potential replacements using availability, pay, employee location, compliance rules, and historical shift behavior
- Automated outreach – Eligible employees are contacted in a staggered sequence or all at once, depending on your preference
- Real-time visibility – Managers track who’s been contacted and the moment coverage is confirmed
- Better shift experience for employees – Offers match availability and skills; staff accept or decline directly from the Humanity Schedule app or via SMS
Compliance as a competitive advantage
Predictive scheduling laws are expanding across states and municipalities.
Missing one can turn a simple shift change into real exposure: financial penalties, unplanned overtime, and an employee who feels blindsided by a last-minute swap. This half, Humanity Schedule expanded support for Fair Workweek laws to help keep that risk out of your schedule before it ever gets published:
- Right-to-rest alerts — Notifies you of schedule changes that fall inside a required rest period, before publishing
- Predictability pay flags — Surfaces situations that may trigger predictability pay so managers can catch them early
- Consent on record — Logs employee confirmation when they agree to work a flagged shift
- Good faith estimates — Stores expected hours, days, and shifts at the time of hire, giving employees a clearer picture from day one
Together, these updates help you reduce compliance exposure and avoid costly predictability pay violations, while giving employees the schedule transparency and clearer job expectations they’re asking for. Built into the schedule itself instead of checked after the fact, that’s what automated compliance can actually do for your team.
What’s coming in 2H
Humanity Schedule will see further improvements to backfill, plus some long-awaited new capabilities:
| Update | How it helps |
| Employee-initiated AI backfill | Trusted employees can kick off backfill for released shifts, expanding fill reach without adding manager workload |
| Soft conflict handling for schedule backfill | Broader candidate pools within the AI backfill process by considering qualified staff who may trigger eligible soft conflicts |
| Labor metrics via point-of-sale integration | Monitor sales against your labor budget by the hour, compare forecasted vs. actual sales, and surface KPIs like sales per labor hour and labor percentages |
TimeClock Plus: what’s new
Overtime rules just got easier to manage
When employees change shifts, job types, locations, or departments throughout the week, tracking overtime can get complicated fast. New to the TimeClock Plus advanced overtime management module, overtime profiles make handling overtime that much easier.
Instead of manually reviewing and adjusting overtime after the fact, overtime profiles automatically apply the right rules based on the work being performed. That means fewer payroll corrections, more accurate labor costs, and greater confidence that employees are paid correctly no matter where or how they’re working.
- Apply different overtime rules for different work to the same employee
- Simplify complex overtime calculations with automated rules
- Support multi-state operations when different jurisdiction rules apply within the same week
- Improve job costing, labor allocation, and payroll accuracy across projects and shifts
Covering more ground in K-12
While Extra Duty Manager has been available since late last year, it’s still one of the best examples of TCP listening to what K-12 districts actually deal with.
If you manage a payroll office, you know extra duty is the rolling snowball at the bottom of the payroll hill: coaching gigs, dance chaperoning, after-school programs, all pieced together through sticky notes and spreadsheets.
Extra Duty Manager moves all of that into TimeClock Plus, where it belongs, and we’ve kept building on it this half. Districts create and track extra duty assignments directly in the system, with a full lineup of dedicated capabilities:
- Real-time data sync — Extra duty hours tracked and updated automatically
- Budget controls — Full visibility into spending as it happens
- Pre-approval workflows — Only qualified, approved staff get assigned
- Dashboards, reporting, and audit logs — Accountability and audit-readiness built in
Administrators don’t have to chase the truth through phone calls, emails, and follow-ups. Payroll isn’t guessing about the budget after the work’s already happened. And we’re not done — Extra Duty Manager keeps getting sharper based on what districts tell us they need.
What’s coming in 2H
For the second half of the year, TimeClock Plus will see updates supporting compliance, reporting, and scheduling integrations:
| Update | How it helps |
| Advanced leave management | Automate leave management for complex leave requirements (e.g., concurrent state and federal leave, union rules) across federal, state, and employer policies |
| Reporting and analytics | Find workforce data and key metrics in one place, build reports with fewer steps and less manual setup, start from ready-to-use dashboard templates for common reporting needs, and share reports with scheduled automatic delivery |
| Multi-instance support | Connect multiple Humanity Schedule and/or Aladtec instances to a single TimeClock Plus instance, with SSO across all three to build on and enhance existing integrations between the products |
Aladtec: what’s new
Shift bidding, your way
Aladtec’s 1H story is about giving agencies more control over their shift bidding process. In addition to simultaneous bidding, Aladtec now supports interval shift bidding — functionality most workforce management software doesn’t offer.
By having both options, we support your agency at whatever stage you’re at:
- Simultaneous bidding – Great for smaller agencies, simpler rules
- Interval bidding – Great for larger agencies, complex rules
With interval shift bidding, admins can set staggered, time-bound windows for staff based on their work, labor, or union rules. So, each person sees only the shifts available and relevant to them, knows exactly when their window opens and closes, and finds out immediately which shifts they were awarded.
Then, available bids update automatically as each window closes, keeping the list accurate for the next person in line. A new results page gives admins a clean record of every awarded bid.
What’s coming in 2H
For Aladtec, we’ll be focusing on interface improvements, plus bidding and coverage expansion:
| Update | How it helps |
| Vacation bidding | Make seasonal planning simpler with configurable vacation bidding workflows built around your agency’s leave and seniority practices |
| Batched staggered coverage alerts | Select multiple open shifts at once when creating coverage alerts; Aladtec handles notification per your usual rules |
| Ongoing UI refresh | Cleaner navigation, simpler workflows, and a look that’s a little easier on the eyes |
All eyes on 2H
