Tech Tip: How to set up Minimum Staffing Requirement

In the public safety sector, minimum staffing requirements are essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of emergency operations. These regulations mandate a specific number of personnel for various emergency scenarios, impacting scheduling and resource allocation within departments. Ensuring adequate staffing levels is crucial for rapid and effective emergency response, directly influencing the overall operational capability and safety of both responders and the public.

Adhering to these staffing norms requires meticulous planning and often necessitates adjustments to traditional scheduling practices. This careful balance between available resources and the imperative to provide timely and effective responses to emergencies is fundamental to maintaining the well-being of communities and the safety of emergency service workers.

How to use Aladtec to maintain your required staffing level

Minimum Staffing, a flexible and easy-to-use feature, allows the defining of minimum staffing requirements for each schedule. In addition to setting a minimum number of people working, you may find yourself needing to utilize this feature when special positions or member requirements are needed. For example, ensuring a specific employee status is met such as full-time, part-time, or volunteer, or even by position such as an EMT, Medic, or Driver. Additional fields in the Member Database may need to be added.  

Step-by-step process

  • Step 1: Open the Set Up page on the Aladtec platform.

  • Step 2: Click on Schedules to enter the scheduling setup page.

  • Step 3: Select the schedule that you would like to work on.

  • Step 4: Click on the time frame you would like to set up the minimum staffing requirement. You can then select the minimum number of staff required for that time frame.

  • Step 5: You can also adjust the time frame to fit your requirements by clicking on Adjust Times. Make sure to click Save Changes after you have finished your adjustments.
